A Matcha Morning in the City

Some mornings don’t need a big plan to become memorable.

Today, I was out in the city when I decided to stop for an iced matcha before continuing with the rest of my day. The weather was bright, the sidewalks were busy without feeling too crowded, and sunlight kept slipping between the trees and buildings. It was one of those little moments that made me want to slow down instead of rushing to the next thing. 🍵☀️

I’ve always liked this side of everyday life in Thailand. Even when you’re in the middle of a busy city, it’s surprisingly easy to turn a simple drink stop into a tiny break from everything. Cafés, outdoor spaces, shady corners, and cold drinks are almost essential when the Thai weather decides to turn the brightness all the way up.

My Easy Outfit for a Sunny Day

I kept my outfit simple today: a lightweight white shirt tied at the waist, denim shorts, sunglasses, and a small shoulder bag.

White shirts are one of those pieces I keep coming back to because they can change personality depending on how you wear them. Buttoned neatly, they can look polished. Worn more casually with denim, they instantly feel relaxed and ready for a weekend wander.

The denim shorts made sense for the warm weather, while the sunglasses were definitely more necessity than decoration once I stepped into the afternoon sun. 😎

I like outfits that let me forget about the outfit once I leave home. If I can walk around, grab a drink, browse a few shops, and spontaneously change my plans without wondering whether I’m dressed for it, that’s usually a good sign.

The Little Pause I Didn’t Plan

The funny thing is, the matcha wasn’t supposed to be part of the day.

I only meant to walk past the café.

Then I saw someone carrying a cold green drink, changed my mind almost immediately, and a few minutes later I was standing outside with one of my own. Apparently, my self-control becomes surprisingly negotiable when matcha is involved. 😂

But maybe that was the best part of the morning.

Life can become a long checklist if we let it. Work, messages, errands, places to go, things we tell ourselves we should finish before we’re allowed to relax.

Today reminded me that a good day doesn’t always need something extraordinary to happen.

Sometimes it’s sunshine on the pavement, a comfortable outfit, nowhere urgent to be for the next few minutes, and an iced matcha getting colder in your hand.

And somehow, that is enough. 💚
