I Went for a Walk and Accidentally Made Some Duck Friends 🦆🌸
I didn’t have much of a plan today.
Actually, the entire plan was basically:
Get out of the house.
Very detailed, I know. 😂
The weather was lovely, so I put on a floral dress, grabbed a soft pink cardigan and my little shoulder bag, then headed to the park for an afternoon walk.
I thought I’d wander around for a while, maybe find a quiet bench and enjoy the sunshine.
Then I reached the pond.
And suddenly I had company.
Lots of very hungry, very confident company. 🦆😂
They Definitely Knew What Was in My Bag
The ducks were swimming around peacefully when I arrived.
Or at least they looked peaceful.
The moment food appeared, the entire mood changed.
One duck came closer.
Then another.
Then apparently somebody sent a group notification because suddenly everyone wanted to join. 😆
I crouched near the edge of the pond and carefully offered them little pieces of food.
Some waited politely.
Others clearly believed patience was an unnecessary concept.
I quickly discovered that ducks have personalities.
And opinions.
Especially about snacks.
A Little Pink for a Sunny Afternoon 🌷
Today’s outfit matched the soft mood of the park perfectly.
I wore a light floral dress with a pale pink cardigan and simple ballet flats. Nothing complicated, just something comfortable and feminine for walking around outside.
The cardigan turned out to be a good decision because the breeze near the water was cooler than I expected.
It was one of those easy outfits that doesn’t need much planning.
Although crouching beside a pond while surrounded by enthusiastic ducks was probably not part of the original fashion brief. 😂
Still, we adapted.
I Forgot About My Phone for a While
After feeding them, I stayed beside the pond longer than I’d planned.
There was a fountain in the distance, trees reflected across the water, and ducks were casually swimming around as though they had absolutely nowhere important to be.
Honestly?
Excellent lifestyle.
I should learn from them. 😌
I realized my phone had been sitting untouched in my bag for quite a while.
No scrolling.
No checking messages every few minutes.
No wondering what everyone else was doing.
I was too busy watching ducks argue over tiny pieces of food.
Maybe that’s the secret to reducing screen time.
More ducks. 😂
The Park Felt Different When I Stopped Rushing
Afterward, I walked slowly around the pond.
I’ve noticed something about places like this.
When you’re walking somewhere because you need to get from point A to point B, you barely notice anything.
But when there’s nowhere you need to reach, suddenly everything becomes interesting.
The sound of the fountain.
Leaves moving in the breeze.
People sitting under trees.
Birds hopping around looking suspiciously interested in everyone’s snacks.
Even sunlight reflecting on the water becomes something worth stopping for.
Nothing had changed about the park.
I had simply stopped rushing through it.
Then I Found the Perfect Bench
Eventually I found a bench under a tree and sat down.
This might have been the least productive twenty minutes of my entire day.
And possibly the best. 😂
I didn’t make a list.
I didn’t plan tomorrow.
I didn’t try to turn the moment into anything meaningful.
I just sat there.
The afternoon sun was warm, the breeze was cool, and occasionally a duck would wander past looking hopeful that I had discovered additional snacks.
Sorry, little friend.
The restaurant was closed. 🦆😆
I Think I Needed an Ordinary Day
Sometimes I feel like we’re always searching for something memorable to do.
A new café.
A big trip.
An exciting event.
Somewhere impressive enough to photograph.
But today reminded me that ordinary places can still give us lovely little moments.
I didn’t travel anywhere special.
I didn’t accomplish anything remarkable.
I walked through a park, fed some ducks, sat beside the water, and went home feeling lighter than when I arrived.
That’s enough for me.
Actually, that’s more than enough. 🌿💕
And yes, next time I come back, I suspect my new feathered friends will remember exactly who carries the snacks.
“Peace doesn’t always need a quiet place. Sometimes it’s simply the moment you stop rushing long enough to notice what’s already around you.” 🦆🌿✨
