This morning, I woke up and had one of those tiny debates with myself.
Stay in bed for another 20 minutes?
Or actually get up and do the morning stretch I promised myself last night?
The bed made a very convincing argument. 😂
But somehow, I managed to grab my yoga mat, fill my water bottle, change into something comfortable, and head up to the rooftop before I could change my mind.
And I’m glad I did.
No Intense Workout Today, Thank You 😆
I’m definitely not trying to turn every morning into some super-disciplined fitness routine.
Some days I have energy.
Some days I would rather become permanently attached to my pillow.
Today was somewhere in between, so I kept everything gentle.
A few stretches, some slow movements, plenty of breathing, and absolutely no competition with myself.
I think exercise feels much nicer when I stop treating it as something I have to complete perfectly.
Sometimes ten peaceful minutes are exactly what I need.
Stretching While the City Wakes Up
The best part was the timing.
The sun was just beginning to rise behind the buildings, and the whole sky slowly turned soft pink and orange. The city was already waking up below me, but up on the rooftop everything still felt surprisingly quiet.
I sat on my mat, closed my eyes, stretched one arm overhead and stayed there for a moment.
No phone.
No notifications.
No thinking about what needed to be finished later.
Just warm sunlight on my skin and a little morning breeze moving through my hair.
It felt ridiculously simple.
And ridiculously good. ☀️
Matching My Outfit to the Sunrise Was Totally Accidental… Maybe 💗
For today’s little rooftop session, I wore a dusty rose workout set that happened to look almost perfectly matched with the morning sky.
Was that planned?
I would love to pretend it was.
Let’s call it a happy coincidence. 😋
Comfort matters most to me when I’m stretching, so I like workout clothes that let me move naturally without constantly adjusting anything.
Add a yoga mat and a bottle of water, and that’s basically my entire morning setup.
Nothing fancy required.
The Five Minutes After Yoga Might Be My Favorite Part
When I finished stretching, I didn’t immediately pack everything away.
I stayed on the mat.
Just sitting there.
I watched the sunlight climb a little higher over the skyline while taking a few slow sips of water.
Normally, mornings can turn into a checklist almost immediately: shower, breakfast, messages, work, errands, and whatever surprise decides to appear that day.
But today I gave myself a few extra minutes before all of that began.
And strangely, those few minutes made the whole morning feel longer.
Not because I suddenly had more time, but because I wasn’t racing through it.
A Softer Start to the Day 🌤️
I don’t think every morning needs an impressive routine.
You don’t need to wake up ridiculously early, complete an hour-long workout, drink the world’s healthiest smoothie, meditate, journal, and somehow become a completely new person before breakfast. 😂
Sometimes getting out of bed, moving your body for a little while, drinking some water, and watching the sunrise is enough.
Today wasn’t about becoming more productive.
It was simply about starting the day feeling good.
Tomorrow morning?
We’ll see.
My pillow still has a very strong negotiating position. 😴💕
“You don’t have to conquer the morning. Sometimes it’s enough to meet it gently.”
