Dear diary,
I have some very important news.
There has been a change in management at my house.
The previous manager was me.
The new manager weighs approximately as much as a small potato, has four tiny paws, and communicates primarily through squeaky little meows.
Yes.
I’m talking about a kitten.
A ridiculously fluffy, sleepy-eyed, golden little kitten.
And somehow, despite being small enough to fit comfortably in my hands, he has already convinced me that the entire household belongs to him.
I’m not sure when the official takeover happened.
There was no announcement.
No paperwork.
No management meeting.
He simply looked at me with those tiny eyes.
And I surrendered.
Honestly, I didn’t even negotiate.
1. The Smallest Employee I’ve Ever Hired
Let me introduce you to my new supervisor.
For now, I’m calling him Mr. Biscuit.
Why?
Because he’s tiny, golden, soft, and looks suspiciously like a freshly baked biscuit.
Also, I have a feeling that if I leave him near my breakfast, he’ll attempt to supervise that too.
When I first held him, I couldn’t believe how small he was.
His little paws rested against my fingers.
His ears looked almost too tiny to be real.
And his sleepy expression made him look like he’d just finished an exhausting eight-hour shift.
Doing what?
Sleeping?
Being adorable?
Managing the household economy?
Whatever it was, he looked very tired.
I gently cradled him in both hands and whispered:
“Hello, little baby.”
He blinked.
Slowly.
Very slowly.
Then looked away.
Apparently, my introduction did not meet his expectations.
A difficult client already.
2. His First Performance Review
Naturally, I decided to evaluate his professional qualifications.
Employee Name: Mr. Biscuit
Position: Chief Executive Kitten
Experience: Approximately zero
Communication Skills: Meow
Time Management: Sleeps whenever convenient
Teamwork: Undetermined
Punctuality: Arrives immediately when food is involved
Office Etiquette: Questionable
Appearance: Extremely professional
Overall Rating: 11/10
I know.
My evaluation system might be slightly biased.
But look at his little face!
How am I supposed to remain objective?
He doesn’t even know what a performance review is.
And yet, he’s already receiving an excellent salary.
Paid entirely in food, warm blankets, and affection.
3. The Great Naming Committee
Before settling on Mr. Biscuit, I considered several names.
Mochi.
Pumpkin.
Peanut.
Dumpling.
Little Potato.
Sir Fluffington the Third.
That last one sounded particularly impressive.
Imagine calling him for dinner.
“Sir Fluffington the Third, your meal is ready!”
Very distinguished.
Very royal.
Possibly a little dramatic for a kitten who can barely keep his eyes open.
I tried saying each name aloud.
He ignored all of them.
Every single one.
Not even a tiny ear movement.
Apparently, he believed the naming committee was wasting valuable nap time.
So I made an executive decision.
Mr. Biscuit it is.
At least until he files an official complaint.
4. The First Rule: Everything Must Be Soft
I quickly discovered that Mr. Biscuit has very specific interior design preferences.
He likes soft things.
Very soft things.
Blankets?
Approved.
Fluffy pillows?
Approved.
Warm sweaters?
Highly approved.
My favorite cream-colored knit sweater?
Apparently, premium real estate.
The moment I held him close, he settled into my hands as though he’d found the world’s smallest luxury hotel.
His little face relaxed.
His paws curled slightly.
And he looked perfectly content.
Meanwhile, I was sitting there wondering whether I was still allowed to move.
Because here’s something nobody tells you about holding a sleepy kitten.
The moment they become comfortable, you lose all freedom.
Need water?
Too bad.
Want to change positions?
Absolutely not.
Phone ringing?
Let it ring.
The kitten is sleeping.
And apparently, that’s the law.
5. I Have Become a Professional Kitten Pillow
I used to think my greatest talents were being creative, making people smile, and finding delicious snacks.
Now I have discovered another skill.
Being furniture.
Specifically, a heated kitten pillow.
Mr. Biscuit seems to believe my hands were designed exclusively for his comfort.
He curls up.
Gets cozy.
Closes his eyes.
And suddenly, I become a statue.
A very happy statue.
But still a statue.
I once tried adjusting my arm slightly.
He opened one eye.
Just one.
The expression was unmistakable.
“Excuse me, human. Was that movement authorized?”
I immediately stopped.
I’m not proud of how quickly I obeyed.
But honestly, you would have done the same.
6. His Tiny Paws Have Extraordinary Power
Can we talk about kitten paws?
Why are they so unbelievably cute?
They’re tiny.
Soft.
Round.
And somehow capable of making a perfectly reasonable adult forget every responsibility on her schedule.
I was supposed to organize a few things around the house.
Instead, I spent several minutes admiring his paws.
Then his ears.
Then his little nose.
Then his paws again.
Productivity?
Missing.
Motivation?
Replaced by kitten appreciation.
And you know what?
I wasn’t even upset.
Some days, happiness arrives in the form of something incredibly small.
With whiskers.
And very questionable management skills.
7. The Kitten Has a Personal Assistant
At some point, I realized something slightly embarrassing.
I wasn’t taking care of a kitten.
I was working for one.
Consider the evidence.
When he’s hungry, I prepare his food.
When he’s sleepy, I arrange a comfortable resting place.
When he wants attention, I stop what I’m doing.
When he makes a tiny noise, I immediately investigate.
Meanwhile, what does he do for me?
He blinks.
He stretches.
He looks adorable.
Occasionally, he falls asleep in a particularly ridiculous position.
And somehow, I consider this a perfectly fair arrangement.
I think I’ve been successfully manipulated by someone who doesn’t even understand what manipulation means.
Impressive.
Very impressive.
8. The Mysterious Meow Department
I’ve started learning that kittens have their own communication system.
Unfortunately, I don’t speak fluent kitten.
Not yet.
But I’m studying.
A tiny squeak might mean:
“I’m hungry.”
Or:
“I’m sleepy.”
Or:
“Please adjust this blanket.”
Or possibly:
“I have important opinions about the current economic situation.”
It’s difficult to know.
Sometimes I respond with a gentle little meow of my own.
Yes.
I do that.
Please don’t judge me.
Mr. Biscuit usually stares at me.
Then blinks.
I’m fairly certain my pronunciation is terrible.
Perhaps I’ve accidentally said something embarrassing.
Like:
“Hello, I am a giant refrigerator.”
That would explain the confused expression.
9. The Household Budget Has Changed
Before Mr. Biscuit arrived, I had a relatively normal shopping list.
Groceries.
Skincare.
Coffee.
Maybe a cute little accessory if I found something I liked.
Now?
Kitten food.
Soft blankets.
Tiny toys.
A comfortable bed.
More kitten food.
Another toy because the first one looks lonely.
And possibly an adorable little basket.
Not because he needs it.
But because I think he’d look cute sitting inside it.
This is becoming a serious financial situation.
I looked at my shopping list and realized something.
There was almost nothing for me.
Except coffee.
I’m keeping the coffee.
Even the world’s cutest kitten cannot negotiate that away.
10. The Most Expensive Free Entertainment
People spend money on movies, games, and all kinds of entertainment.
Meanwhile, I can sit on the sofa and watch Mr. Biscuit stretch one tiny paw.
And somehow, it’s the most fascinating thing I’ve seen all day.
He yawns.
I smile.
He wiggles.
I laugh.
He looks confused.
I laugh harder.
There’s no complicated plot.
No dramatic soundtrack.
No special effects.
Just one fluffy little creature existing.
And apparently, that’s enough.
I wonder whether he realizes how entertaining he is.
Probably not.
He’s too busy being important.
11. His Secret Superpower
Mr. Biscuit has a remarkable ability.
He can make me forget what I was worrying about.
Not permanently, of course.
Responsibilities don’t magically disappear because a kitten is cute.
Although that would be an incredible invention.
Imagine presenting a kitten to your electricity bill.
“Sorry, I can’t pay today. Look at these paws.”
Unfortunately, I don’t think that works.
But spending a little time with him does make ordinary worries feel less overwhelming.
When I hold him gently and watch his tiny face relax, my thoughts become quieter.
I stop rushing for a moment.
I notice the warm light in the room.
The softness of my sweater.
The peaceful little sounds around me.
And I remember that life isn’t only about finishing tasks.
It’s also about enjoying the moments between them.
Especially when those moments have whiskers.
12. The Official Household Rules
Since Mr. Biscuit has clearly established himself as management, I decided we needed some rules.
Rule One: All naps must be respected.
Rule Two: Soft blankets are essential equipment.
Rule Three: Tiny meows require immediate attention.
Rule Four: Food must be appropriate for a growing kitten and served on schedule.
Rule Five: Human hands are not permanent toys.
Rule Six: Furniture scratching is strongly discouraged.
Rule Seven: Being adorable does not automatically excuse everything.
Okay.
That last rule might be difficult to enforce.
But I’m trying.
I’m a responsible adult.
Mostly.
13. The Unexpected Side Effect of Cuteness
Here’s something funny.
I never realized how many strange sentences I could say until I started talking to a kitten.
“Who’s my tiny potato?”
“Why are your ears so small?”
“Excuse me, sir, where are you going?”
“Please stop looking at me like that.”
“Are you a kitten or a fluffy dumpling?”
And my personal favorite:
“How can someone so small be so expensive?”
If someone overheard these conversations without seeing Mr. Biscuit, they might become slightly concerned.
But I think that’s part of the joy of having a little animal around.
You become a little sillier.
A little softer.
And much more comfortable talking nonsense.
It’s wonderful.
14. A Very Serious Question About Kitten Cuteness
I’ve been thinking.
Why are kittens so effective at making people smile?
Is it their tiny paws?
Their round little faces?
Their sleepy expressions?
The way they look completely surprised by ordinary objects?
Perhaps it’s all of those things together.
Or perhaps there’s something especially lovely about caring for a creature who depends on you.
It makes ordinary actions feel meaningful.
Preparing a meal.
Creating a safe place to sleep.
Paying attention.
Being gentle.
These aren’t dramatic achievements.
Nobody gives you a trophy for arranging a comfortable blanket.
But they matter.
And sometimes, the smallest responsibilities bring the warmest feelings.
15. My New Job Description
I think it’s time to update my professional profile.
Miu Mintra
Creative storyteller.
Lover of cozy mornings.
Occasional snack enthusiast.
Full-time admirer of tiny paws.
Part-time kitten pillow.
Executive assistant to Mr. Biscuit.
Special skills include:
Recognizing suspiciously cute facial expressions.
Speaking extremely questionable kitten language.
Finding lost toys under furniture.
Remaining perfectly still during naps.
And pretending not to notice when a tiny creature has completely taken over my heart.
Salary?
Zero.
Benefits?
Unlimited adorable moments.
Would I recommend the position?
Absolutely.
Although the management can be demanding.
16. The Sweetest Little Promotion
Later, as I sat comfortably in my cream sweater, I gently held Mr. Biscuit close again.
His tiny body rested safely in my hands.
His little eyes looked sleepy.
The room was quiet.
And for a moment, everything felt wonderfully simple.
No dramatic adventures.
No elaborate plans.
No important announcements.
Just a tiny kitten.
A comfortable home.
And a girl who had apparently been promoted to Chief Cuddle Officer.
I smiled at him.
“Well, Mr. Biscuit, I suppose you’re the boss now.”
He blinked.
Then settled down again.
No objections.
No negotiations.
The appointment was official.
17. What My Tiny Boss Has Taught Me
I didn’t expect a creature this small to remind me of something important.
But he did.
Sometimes, we become so focused on doing things that we forget how lovely it feels to simply care about something.
Not because it makes us more productive.
Not because it improves our image.
Not because anyone is watching.
Just because we want to.
There is something quietly wonderful about offering patience, warmth, and attention without expecting anything impressive in return.
And yes, having a kitten involves real responsibilities.
Proper food.
A safe environment.
Gentle handling.
Veterinary care.
Time.
Consistency.
Love isn’t only about cuddles and cute photographs.
It’s also about showing up every day.
Even when you’re tired.
Even when your schedule is busy.
Even when your tiny supervisor decides to make an unexpected request.
But those responsibilities can also make the happy moments feel more meaningful.
Because you’re not just admiring something adorable.
You’re helping a little life feel safe.
And that’s a beautiful thing.
18. The Final Management Meeting
Before ending today’s diary entry, I held one final meeting with Mr. Biscuit.
Attendance: Two.
Agenda: Household leadership.
I explained that although I respected his new position, we needed to discuss certain matters.
Such as my right to use my own sofa.
My ability to finish a cup of coffee while it’s still warm.
And the possibility of having at least one blanket that belongs entirely to me.
Mr. Biscuit listened carefully.
Well, he appeared to.
Then he yawned.
Closed his eyes.
And fell asleep.
Meeting adjourned.
No decisions made.
Management unavailable for comment.
Honestly, I think I’ve lost control of this organization.
But when I look at his tiny sleepy face, I can’t stop smiling.
Maybe being the assistant to a fluffy little boss isn’t such a bad job after all.
With love, tiny paws, and a completely unreasonable amount of affection,
